Our trio of expat advisors – Keith Poniewaz, Ph.D., Stan Farmer, CFP®, J.D., and Syl Michelin, CFA® – not only work exclusively with U.S. expats, but they have all lived internationally as well, giving them unique perspective into the lifestyle and inner-workings that come with expatriate status. Keith Poniewaz, Ph.D.
DIRECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY SERVICES | FINANCIAL ADVISOR
Keith Poniewaz joined Walkner Condon in January 2019 to oversee their newly created Walkner Condon International Team.
Keith has been a financial advisor since 2014 and has previously been employed at Merrill Lynch and Thun Financial where he worked with high net worth individuals in both the United States and abroad.
Before becoming a Financial Advisor, Keith was a professor of literature and language at several universities and colleges both in the United States and in Europe. His most recent appointment was as Visiting Professor of French at Ursinus College outside of Philadelphia.
A native of Madison. Keith is a graduate of the University of Chicago (A.B. with Departmental and College Honors) and the University of Pennsylvania (M.A. and Ph.D. in Comparative Literature). He speaks French and Spanish.
Clint Walkner
FOUNDING PARTNER | FINANCIAL ADVISOR
Clint has been registered as a Financial Advisor since 2001 and is a Founding Partner of Walkner Condon Financial Advisors. Specializing in working with individuals in academics, Clint has extensive experience in helping educators plan out their work optional lifestyle. Outside of his duties as a Financial Advisor for the firm, he serves as the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and is intimately involves in the investment selection and portfolio management for our clients.
Clint lives in Middleton, WI with his wife and two children. In his spare time he enjoys going to local concerts, trying out new cooking techniques, and golfing.
Nate Condon
FOUNDING PARTNER | FINANCIAL ADVISOR
Nate co-founded Walkner Condon Financial Advisors in 2012. He was raised in Janesville, WI and currently lives in Cottage Grove, WI, a suburb of Madison. In addition to being registered as a financial advisor since 2006, Nate also has experience in real estate as both a Realtor and a Mortgage Loan Officer in previous careers, giving him a unique perspective from his prior experience.
Nate loves to spend time in the outdoors and traveling with his family. An avid music fan, Nate has attended 22 Pearl Jam shows (and counting!) and counts music as one of his passions.
Stan Farmer, CFP®, J.D.
Director of International Financial Planning | International Financial Advisor
Stan Farmer lives in Middleton, the town he and his wife, Iracema, and three children have called home for the past six years. He grew up in Columbia, MO and Cedar Rapids, IA, but has lived and worked all over the world, from Minneapolis to Luanda (Angola), Dubai and Lisbon. He began his career as an attorney and first became a financial advisor in 2004, joining the Minneapolis office of Merrill Lynch.
After returning to the U.S., Stan joined Thun Financial in 2014, where he began to focus his advisory practice on providing financial planning and investment advice to U.S. expat clients all over the world. He has authored numerous articles and provided educational webinars on a variety of financial planning topics that have included cross-border estate planning, financial planning for mixed nationality couples, dividing retirement assets when divorcing abroad, cross-border philanthropy, and expatriation.
Stan is a graduate of Northwestern University, where he majored in Economics. He also achieved a masters degree in government administration (MGA) from the University of Pennsylvania and law degree (JD) from the University of Iowa. He is fluent in English and Portuguese.
Stan enjoys taking care of his 100+ pets (African cichlids) and he is completely obsessed with cycling the many paved, gravel and dirt trails that run throughout Wisconsin when the weather permits, and riding inside with Zwift and his stationary trainer when it doesn’t.
Syl Michelin, CFA®
Director of Portfolio Strategy | Financial Advisor
Syl’s wealth management journey began in 2007 when he joined Citi Private Bank. He would spend the following decade with Citi working as a Private Banker in some of the world’s financial hubs: Geneva, London and most recently New York City. In 2018 he joined Thun Financial as an International Investment Advisor and became a member of the firm’s investment committee.
In 2020 he joined Walkner Condon with the goal of building a client-centric practice in a boutique environment. With the ever-increasing complexity of cross-border investing and planning, Syl’s goal is to be a partner in his client’s success: simplifying their financial life so they can focus on what’s important to them, whether that’s running a business, focusing on their career or just spending time with family.
Syl was raised in France and graduated from the New York Institute of Technology. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the Madison CFA Society.
Syl lives in Madison with his wife Melanie. In his spare time, he enjoys running and spending time in the Wisconsin outdoors. He was once an okay golfer, and also has created his own variety of yet unnamed cheese, which could be his claim to fame.
Polly Price
CLIENT SERVICES SPECIALIST
Polly dots our ”I’s” and crosses our “T”s. She is an integral part of our team, ensuring that our clients can maximize the use of our online tools and helping them navigate through the intricacies of the paperwork required in our industry. Prior to joining Walkner Condon, Polly worked in the non-profit sector for eight years in development and fundraising roles. She most recently served as the Legacy Giving Manager for PBS Wisconsin, giving her insight into real-world applications of charitable giving in a financial plan. Polly is currently studying for the Series 65 examination, with plans of joining Walkner Condon’s team of financial advisors.
Polly and her husband, Bobby, live in Madison with their daughter, Hadley. Their family also includes Porter, a rambunctious rescue mutt. In her free time, Polly enjoys running, baking, and attending concerts, and has seen Dave Matthews Band approximately 40 times in person.
Most Mico
CLIENT SERVICES SPECIALIST
Most joined Walkner Condon Financial Advisors in May 2022. She’s a critical component of the support staff that assists our team of advisors who work with U.S. expats and Americans abroad. Before coming on board with Walkner Condon, Most spent several years with Thoughtful Wills, a small law firm that provided custom estate-planning documents (wills, durable powers of attorney, and health care directives/living wills.
One of two Walkner Condon staff members with a legal background – Stan Farmer, a former lawyer, being the other – Most has extensive legal work and education experience. In addition to a Paralegal Associate Degree from Madison College (2021) and a Master of Laws degree from UW-Madison (2018), Most also obtained several degrees and certifications while living in Thailand. She earned her Master of Laws degree in 2016, a Master of Education degree in 2015, her Thai lawyer’s license in 2013, and a bachelor’s degree in Law in 2011, all while living in Bangkok and Chonburi, Thailand.
Most and her husband, Addison, have lived in Madison since 2017 and recently welcomed a daughter, Madeline, into the world in February. In her free time, Most enjoys cooking Thai food, teaching Thai, drawing, and adjusting to becoming a parent.
